Past & Present

NEW PROJECT - Past & Present

Digging into my past for memories of blissful holidays in Cornwall with my family, days filled with sunshine, ice cream, frolicking in the sea with my brothers and sister, laughing, eating honeydew melon so juicy it dribbled stickily down my chin - days that seemed to last for weeks, a time that was filled with love and togetherness. These glowing memories sit alongside recent memories with my own family revisiting familiar locations, basking in the glow of the past and present; even today Cornwall has a strong pull at my heart, it is steeped with memories that are restorative, almost mediative. It is this feeling, this memory that informs and inspires my latest collection of paintings.

Working larger allowing me to use bolder marks, to flow and share the joy as memories flood through me into my brush; a soft pastel palette contrasting with strong darks reminding me raspberry ripple ice creams, and ‘pebble’ sweets my dad would buy in a little sweet shop in Padstow, they lasted for ages. I am totally immersed in these warm memories. The images below show works in progress.
